A traditional bocce court runs up to 27.5 meters (about 90 feet) long and 2.5 to 4 meters (roughly 8 to 13 feet) wide, played on natural soil or asphalt — casual backyard play just needs a reasonably flat strip of lawn and an agreed throwing zone, no official court required.

Regulation horseshoe stakes are solid or hollow steel, one inch in diameter, and the backboard sits at least four feet behind the stake — simple enough specs that a backyard pit can match them closely with hardware-store materials.
