A bison crosses the frosted meadow

Published · Updated

A bison crosses the frosted meadow after a light snowfall, its dark shaggy head contrasting with the pale grass. Snow clings to the heavy shoulder coat and beard, while the short curved horns remain sharply outlined. One lifted hoof gives the animal a slow, deliberate sense of movement across the uneven ground.

Beyond the meadow, dark spruce trees rise toward hills softened by mist. A narrow stream divides the middle distance, and the pale dawn sky adds a muted lilac tone to the snow. The broad setting keeps the animal within its landscape, balancing close fur detail with open space and the stillness of an early cold morning.
