A floral coat walks through yarn trees
Published · Updated
Yarn trees turn a woodland path into a richly colored outdoor gallery. Crochet patchwork follows the trunks and spreading branches, with pink, turquoise, yellow and green sections built from stripes, circles and flower shapes. A visitor in a salmon coat walks beneath the decorated limbs, looking upward as the enormous textile forms rise around her.
Blue and turquoise floral embroidery climbs the front of the coat and continues along its broad cuffs. These smaller stitched details answer the larger patterns on the trees without disappearing into them. Dark conifers and scattered leaves keep the setting recognizably outdoors, while patches of sunlight reveal yarn fibers, seams and the folds of the flared skirt.
