A floral raincoat is ready for the seaside
Published · Updated
A floral raincoat is nearly ready for another walk beside the sea. A father crouches in front of his daughter and works at the coat fastening. She holds the sides of her hood with both hands and smiles down toward him. Their small pause takes place just beneath the edge of an ornate seaside shelter.
Her coat has a cream ground scattered with tiny blue, pink and yellow flowers. A yellow flower clip sits in her dark hair, while mauve leggings lead down to pink rubber boots. Her father wears a weathered brown jacket over a navy layer, with dark jeans and sturdy boots. The different clothing textures remain visible in the bright light after rain.
Burgundy posts support the shelter’s red tiled roof. Cream panels carry open leaf and rounded floral shapes above a wooden bench. Beyond the family, the wet promenade reflects the columns and their shoes. A dark sea rail separates the walkway from pale waves and a distant headland. Broken clouds let a warm patch of sunlight cross the scene, making the brief act of care feel closely connected to the changing weather.
