A serpentine brick wall winds through the autumn garden in a sequence of broad S curves. Staggered red-brown courses follow each bend, with angled coping bricks completing the upper edge. Warm sunlight reaches the outward faces while cooler shadows settle into the returning curves.

Pale asters and fine bronze grasses soften one side of the structure, and green lawn opens along the other. Fallen leaves gather at its foot beneath the yellow trees farther away. Seen from above at an oblique angle, the wall has a strong sculptural pattern, yet its weathered joints and planted edges keep the scene rooted in the everyday materials of a working garden.
