A willow sculpture faces the sea wind
Published · Updated
A willow sculpture faces the open sea with one arm extended and a long woven skirt trailing across the grass. Interlaced brown rods form the figure, hair and small birds, with curved metal supports holding the birds above the hand. The sweeping silhouette gives the stationary artwork a strong sense of movement.
Golden grass bends across the headland beneath fast clouds, while chalk cliffs and the ocean extend behind the figure. Side light catches individual fibers and tied joints, making the handmade surface visible at a distance. The sculpture and its ground shadow share the wider coastal view, connecting the elaborate form to the wind and space around it.
