Beaded reticule rests on the velvet chair
Published · Updated
A beaded reticule rests against the rounded arm of a green velvet chair. Small cream beads cover its softly gathered body, with blue flowers and plum branches spreading over the surface. The drawcord loops across the chair arm, and a long blue bead tassel hangs freely below. Its narrow strands catch separate points of light.
The velvet chair has a deep rolled arm and a dark carved wooden leg. Worn areas in the pile change shade as they turn toward the window. Behind it, pale blue paneling and rippled glass soften the room. A small wooden side table holds a blue-and-white jug of flowers, extending the bag's colors into the surrounding space.
Daylight passes across the beads and leaves the deeper folds in shadow. The pale bag stands out against the dark upholstery without losing the fine differences in its floral pattern. A faded rug spreads beneath the chair, adding a flatter layer of small repeating shapes. The photograph brings together polished beads, soft fabric, uneven glass and old wood in one quiet corner.
