Black Cat Garlands Above the Cobbles
Published · Updated
Two sisters walk hand in hand along a narrow cobbled lane, one lifting her free arm to point at the decorations overhead. Their matching camel coats and red shoes stand out against the shaded stones. Long dark plaits fall down their backs, each finished with a black bow.
Above them, strings of black cats alternate with orange paper lanterns. Several garlands cross the lane at different heights, drawing the eye toward a glowing bakery window at the far end. Orange marigolds spill from flower boxes along the pastel walls, and carved pumpkins wait on the low doorsteps. The shutters, worn plaster and uneven cobbles give the street a lived-in texture.
Low sunlight warms the upper walls while the lower lane stays in gentle shade. Small pools of warm light from the lanterns and window sit among the softer outdoor colours. The simple repeated cat shapes create a festive rhythm without hiding the architecture. The sisters' upward glance makes the decorations feel newly discovered, turning an ordinary walk into a small autumn celebration.
