Bottle Flip Lands on the Autumn Porch Table
Published · Updated
A bottle flip has just ended on the autumn porch table. The clear bottle stands upright between a father and his adult son, while their smiles meet across the wide wooden surface. The son's open hand still hangs near the space where he released it. His father leans forward with one hand on the table, sharing the small surprise.
A rust and cream cardigan brings a loose knitted texture to the younger man's side of the scene. His father's denim jacket, blue henley and tan trousers create a quieter contrast. Neither gesture needs to be large. The upright bottle and their exchanged look tell the story of the successful little challenge.
Paper leaves in copper, ochre and deep plum hang densely beneath the porch ceiling. Warm bulbs shine between them, echoing the orange trees beyond the railing. Rain softens the distant lawn and darkens the painted floorboards. Wicker chairs and botanical cushions wait behind the table, giving the richly decorated porch the comfort of a place already in use.
