Giant Pin Wall and a Boy's Surprise
Published · Updated
A giant pin wall preserves a boy's outstretched shape in hundreds of turquoise pins. He has stepped to the side and points back at the impression, grinning toward his father, who crouches nearby and laughs with him. The boy's mustard rocket sweatshirt and bright blue corduroy shorts add another set of small graphic details to the scene.
The pins project at different depths within a sturdy black frame, creating a relief rather than a flat drawing. Tall windows light the former tram shed, and old rails run through the concrete floor beneath the installation. Plain colorful stools sit farther back. The child's gesture, his father's reaction and the retained silhouette connect the playful moment across three distinct parts of the picture.
