Cardboard Tube Pavilion Forms a Wave
Published · Updated
A cardboard tube pavilion turns repeated hollow paper cylinders into an undulating wall and a walk-through arch. The heights change gradually along the structure, creating a wave that feels large enough to inhabit. Circular openings and kraft paper texture keep the ordinary material visible despite the unusual scale.
A visitor pauses partway through the passage, small beside the taller sections. Her coral dress adds a distinct color within the brown tubes and pale courtyard. From the low side angle, nearer cylinder ends lead toward the open arch and the building beyond. The temporary sculpture gains its effect through repetition with variation: simple pieces assembled into a form that invites movement, inspection and a different view from each side.
