Colour Waves in the Weaving Mill

Published · Updated

Three great wooden looms stand beside the tall windows of a riverside mill. Their tapestries carry flowing bands of teal, ochre, violet and moss green, with the coarse woven surface catching soft daylight. Loose pale warp threads continue beneath the finished areas, and bundles of coloured yarn hang from the sides of the frames. A seated weaver works quietly at the nearest loom, giving the large textile a human scale.

The room opens upward into a roof of heavy weathered beams. Pale stone walls, broad floorboards and simple wooden benches surround the work without competing with it. Outside the windows, autumn trees colour the far riverbank, echoing the warmer tones in the woven patterns. Small task lamps add a gentle glow to the threads while baskets keep wool close at hand. This photograph brings together textile craft, natural materials and the calm atmosphere of a generous working space.
