Three Crayon Costumes Cross the Lane
Published · Updated
Crayon costumes bring three broad blocks of color to a quiet neighborhood lane. The children wear pointed felt hats above cylindrical blue, red and yellow tunics, with dark bands recalling the ends of wrapped drawing crayons. Patterned sleeves, ordinary shoes and comfortable layers peek out beneath the oversized shapes as they cross the street together.
The striped crossing gives their small procession a lively rhythm without crowding the view. Their arms swing separately, and the children glance toward one another as the colorful tunics move with each step. Low brick houses and a small tree keep the setting familiar. Clear morning sun catches the soft felt surfaces, while the darker road makes the bright costumes stand out.
