A croquet lawn moment gathers three friends around a blue croquet ball stopped against a white hoop. One crouches to inspect the obstacle with a mischievous smile, while a friend stands nearby with the mallet. Sculptural lilac sleeves give her simple cotton dress a playful shape against the damp grass.

An apple-green dress and a closed pale umbrella add another vertical line behind the small group. The low camera gives the ball and wire hoop a strong place in the foreground, with full figures rising above them. Water droplets catch the soft daylight across the lawn. A hedge and modest shed complete the setting, leaving the shared reaction at the center of the scene.
