A dog birthday picnic brings three different guests around a small gingham garden table. A chestnut spaniel leans toward one of the tiny pale cakes from a wooden chair. A golden retriever waits beside the table, while a black-and-white terrier rests on the grass and looks toward the scene.

Cream and copper balloons form a low arch above the picnic corner. A fabric bone garland hangs from visible strings among flowers and folded paper fans, giving the simple garden an elaborate party setting. The teal checked cloth falls around the round table, with two small plates above and a blue water bowl below. Different heights and poses keep the dogs from becoming a matching row.
