Father and son adjust observatory gears
Published · Updated
The observatory gears draw a father and his adult son close to the base of a huge telescope. One attends to the brass mechanism while the other steadies a separate part. Their faces and hands carry the concentration of a practical task shared by two people who know each other's pace.
The telescope climbs toward the copper dome, filling the upper part of the photograph with its long body and heavy mount. Blue evening light and warm metal tones divide the space gently. Small tools, gear teeth and the solid supporting structure make the work feel tangible, while the open height above them keeps the larger purpose of the observatory in view.
