Father and son ride a rolling pumptrack
Published · Updated
A father and son follow a rolling pumptrack beside the water. The boy leads on a dark bicycle, smiling as his front wheel follows the terracotta bend. His mustard jacket stands out against the pale blue edges of the curved track. A helmet and black knee pads accompany his ordinary shorts and dark shoes. His father rides a short distance behind, looking toward him with an answering smile.
The low humps repeat across the grass, making the route easy to follow through the photograph. Long wheel shadows stretch sideways over the textured surface. Both riders hold their handlebars naturally, with their feet meeting the pedals and their bicycles leaning gently into the route. Small trees and tall grasses separate the riding area from the shore.
Beyond the waterfront path, a white sailboat crosses blue water below a distant hillside. Warm sunlight catches the leaves, jacket folds and edges of the track. The open foreground gives the riders room to continue, while the shared direction of their bicycles makes this a small outing with a clear sense of movement.
