Frosted Willow Reflects in the Still Pond
Published · Updated
A frosted willow spreads its hanging branches above a still pond in a winter park. The dark trunk divides into broad irregular limbs, then into countless fine twigs coated in white. Low sunrise lights the outer threads with pale gold while the inner canopy stays cool and shaded. The large tree and its reflection fill the scene without losing the shape of the surrounding bank.
Snow rests lightly on the grass and along the curving shoreline. Thin ice gathers near the reeds, leaving darker open water farther out. Small ripples gently break the reflected branches into wavering lines. The contrast between the strong trunk and the delicate hanging growth makes the willow's structure especially clear beneath the frost.
A narrow path follows the water at the right, passing a small wooden bench that gives the tree its scale. Other bare trees recede into faint morning mist on the opposite bank. Golden reed stems rise through the foreground snow and lean over the pond edge. The complete landscape joins natural detail, open water and an ordinary park seat in a quiet moment of early winter light.
