River beneath the Icefalls of a Chasm
Published · Updated
An emerald river follows a narrow opening through an icefall-lined chasm between immense winter cliffs. Long curtains of pale blue ice cling to the rock, and scattered snow traces the ledges and boulders. The changing height of the walls creates a strong sense of depth beneath a small strip of sky.
Close wet stone leads into the rushing water, where individual ripples break the reflected light. Farther upstream, successive bends reveal new layers of rock and ice. This vertical landscape wallpaper emphasizes the scale of the gorge through its full height, while fine mineral fractures and delicate frozen edges reward a closer look.
