Making a Cardboard Car in the Garage
Published · Updated
Making a cardboard car gives three children a shared project while rain falls outside the open garage. A brown box becomes the body, pale circles suggest headlights, and blue plate wheels attach with paper tape. One girl holds the white steering wheel from inside the car while a boy presses a wheel into place and the younger child keeps the tape ready.
Pink heart-print cotton, a yellow pinafore and a turquoise striped top make the children easy to distinguish. Their attention moves between the wheel and the pretend driver, with ordinary smiles and focused gestures. Shelves of stored boxes and a small scooter give the garage a familiar backdrop, while wet paving and green grass show the weather beyond the doorway.
