Mammatus clouds hang above the rooftops
Published · Updated
Mammatus clouds hang above the city in rounded irregular clusters, filling most of the sky with soft violet forms. Peach light catches some of their lower edges while deeper pockets remain in shade. Their large scale contrasts with the small rooftops and windows gathered along the bottom of the view.
Rain leaves a sheen on terracotta tiles, plain apartment walls and the near roof gutter. Narrow streets lead toward a distant strip of river as warm windows begin to appear between the buildings. The elevated viewpoint keeps those ordinary urban details connected beneath the unusual sky, balancing a dramatic cloud canopy with a grounded city setting.
