Mounted Archery beneath the Golden Birches
Published · Updated
Mounted archery brings a rider and chestnut horse into a field of golden birches. The rider turns across the saddle with a drawn bow, directing his attention toward a straw target apart from the main figures. The three-quarter view keeps the horse, the seated posture and the surrounding practice space together, making the relationship between movement and aim central to the scene.
A dark green riding coat and plain leather equipment add texture against the warmer horse and grass. The target gives the extended bow a destination, while the open meadow leaves room around the action. Autumn trunks provide a repeated vertical rhythm behind the horse. The photograph captures a concentrated sporting moment within a landscape that remains an active part of the composition.
