A partner carrying race brings two laughing competitors across the sandy field. The runner spreads his arms for balance while his partner keeps an inverted carrying hold around his shoulders and waist. Her upside-down smile appears beside him, with her braid hanging freely and their plain sportswear standing out against the warm sand.

The sandy race course is bordered by low green wooden barriers and a thin spectator rope. Small fair tents and onlookers sit beyond the action, backed by autumn trees. One shoe lifts behind the runner as the other meets the ground, sending a little sand outward. The full-body view keeps the unusual hold and their shared reaction clearly visible.
