A soapbox car takes shape with Dad
Published · Updated
A soapbox car holds the promise of an adventure before its first outing. The wooden racing car rests in the open farm workshop while a father pauses beside the front axle with a short wrench. His son sits in the cockpit with both hands on the small steering wheel, turning toward him with an excited smile. Their shared attention gives the unfinished project a lively sense of purpose.
Curved plywood panels, a rounded strip-built nose and four rubber wheels make the vehicle's construction clear. Warm light reaches in from the doorway, picking out the grain and scattered offcuts. The father and son remain close enough to share a joke while working on different parts of the car.
