Speed skaters rounding a winter curve
Published · Updated
Two speed skaters lean into a curve on an outdoor ice track, their bent knees and offset arms carrying the rhythm of the turn. The nearer athlete fills the middle of the frame, while the second follows along the same path. Long silver runners sit below plain black boots and leave bright lines through the ice.
Winter training takes place against snowbanks, bare trees and a low sun. Teal and charcoal clothing stays restrained so the curved track, reflections and body movement remain easy to read. The foreground leaves a broad stretch of marked ice open beneath the athletes, giving the photograph room to breathe as a vertical wallpaper.
