Tchoukball Rebound beside the Waterfront
Published · Updated
A tchoukball rebound brings three friends to a blue waterfront court. An orange ball hangs above the small net, with the player at left keeping one arm extended while the man opposite opens both hands to receive. Their older friend waits behind them with bent knees and a relaxed smile. The different stances make the next moment easy to imagine.
The inclined net sits on a black tubular frame with a triangular brace resting on the blue court. White cords form an even mesh inside the rim, and a curved boundary line crosses the open foreground. A long mosaic wall separates the playing surface from the waterfront lawn. Its blue and turquoise pieces repeat the cooler colors of the lake.
Across the water, small sailboats sit below a distant hillside and city skyline. Tall rust-colored industrial structures rise at the right edge. Low sunlight warms the players' faces, picks out the striped beige shirt and catches the folds of olive, teal and burgundy shorts. The broad public setting gives this friendly rally space and a clear sense of place.
