The Halloween Garden of Sugar and Chocolate

Published · Updated

Twisted dark trunks carry canopies of orange and purple lollipops beneath a long brick vault. Curving paths pass between low rows of candy corn and small white marshmallow ghosts on sticks. At the far end, a broad chocolate waterfall descends into a stream, which flows beneath a little caramel-coloured bridge. Tall windows fill the garden with warm afternoon light.

Three children have paused just inside the entrance. A girl with long braids wears a black cat costume, a boy wears a pirate hat and striped trousers, and a second girl has a yellow-and-black bee costume with light wings. Seen from behind, they lead the eye into the much larger display without hiding its intricate planting-like arrangements.

Icing spots decorate gingerbread mushrooms beside the path. Pumpkin shapes, small sweets and dark green accents fill the gaps around the chocolate banks. The architecture gives the abundant colours a clear structure: repeated brick arches overhead, pale stone underfoot and tall windows along both sides. The whole room becomes a playful seasonal garden made from familiar confectionery shapes.
