Umbrellas above an Empty Summer Lane
Published · Updated
Colorful umbrellas hang above an empty summer lane, creating a light canopy between old plaster walls. Red, orange, yellow, turquoise and navy fabric repeats at different heights, with visible ribs and curved handles beneath the open shapes. Thin wires span the gap between buildings, and wet cobbles reflect parts of the installation near the foreground.
Green shutters, potted herbs and plain folding chairs keep the setting connected to an ordinary neighborhood street. Afternoon light passes between the umbrellas and reaches patches of stone, while the rest of the lane stays in softer shade. The long view leads toward a pale doorway at the far end. Color and repetition transform the familiar space without filling it with people or signs.
