An Underwater Jack-o-Lantern among the Divers
Published · Updated
An underwater jack-o-lantern brings a familiar Halloween object into an unfamiliar setting. Two divers gather around the hollow orange pumpkin on the rocky bottom. One steadies it while the other holds the lifted lid, with rising bubbles adding a vertical path through the water. The finished carved face remains the bright focus between their darker equipment.
Masks, tanks and hoses keep the scene connected to a recognizable diving activity. The pumpkin contains water, and its grin is defined by the surrounding light rather than a flame. Small scraps nearby add a trace of the work that came before this moment. Blue-green water and the orange shell make a strong color pairing, while the shared gestures give the unusual scene a clear human relationship.
