A braided river meets the black sand coast
Published · Updated
A braided river spreads ochre water into thin branching channels across a black-sand coast. The broad stream divides around irregular dark islands, with translucent edges revealing smaller sediment fans below. Tawny patches of low vegetation interrupt the dark ground without breaking the connected flow of the water.
A diagonal coastline marks the far edge of the view, where a narrow white foam line meets a steel-gray sea. Diffused light keeps the surface colors rich and the shadows quiet. From overhead, fine ripples and shifting channel widths provide scale, turning the large coastal meeting of sand and water into an intricate, naturally uneven pattern.
