A circle dress meets the sound mirror
Published · Updated
A circle dress brings a burst of color to the broad concrete surface of a sound mirror. Its crochet motifs combine pink, yellow, blue and green circles with small white links, all set against black. The woman’s black boots and long dark hair give the busy pattern a simple frame as she looks up toward the structure.
The dress occupies only part of this expansive coastal scene. Weathered concrete rises above the meadow in a tall curved form, its buttresses and rough surface catching the side light. Grass bends around the base, and pale water extends behind the installation. Her approaching gesture gives the monument a human scale. The photograph sets intricate, soft textile work beside a massive hard surface, keeping both the garment and the unusual place sharply distinct.
