A cuttlefish hovers above the seagrass
Published · Updated
A cuttlefish hovers above the seagrass with its broad oval body held just clear of the sand. Fine cream markings branch across the brown mantle, and a thin translucent fin follows its side. One large eye and the short gathered arms give the animal a clear forward direction.
A small water gap and soft shadow separate the body from the growing blades below. The seagrass bends gently together beside pale rippled sand, with cooler blue water fading beyond the nearest patch. Subtle sunlight crosses the mantle and seabed, keeping the patterned animal connected to its shallow marine setting while showing the delicate movement along its fin.
