A honeycomb paper wave fills the boathouse

Published · Updated

Honeycomb paper rises from the left side of the boathouse and sweeps beneath the rafters in a broad color wave. Coral spheres and rosettes begin near the floor, passing through pale lavender before reaching mint and deep teal overhead. Individual folded cells remain visible across the generous curve, creating fine shadows within each rounded form.

Thin hanging lines connect the arrangement to the timber structure above. Their straight tension contrasts with the soft round paper shapes. An empty wooden bench sits beneath a small window, while an iron stove and a brick chimney occupy the opposite side. Weathered blue boards and exposed beams give the room a sturdy, practical character around the light installation.

The open coastal doorway leads toward silver water, low rocks and distant wooded islands. Bright daylight reaches across the floor, where damp boards catch long pale reflections. The darker foreground keeps the paper colors vivid without making them seem detached from the room. With no visitors in view, the photograph leaves space to study the construction, the shifting hues and the quiet stretch of water beyond.
