Mirrored fans frame a walking peacock

Published · Updated

Mirrored fans rise around a peacock as it crosses the rain-dark garden path. The bird holds its blue neck upright, with a small feather crest above its clearly defined head. Its long patterned train trails behind rather than opening into a display. The slender legs and grounded steps give the richly colored figure an ordinary, unhurried presence.

The sculptures echo a fan shape at a much larger scale. Broad radial panels sit inside warm metal frames, each supported on a low stone plinth. Their slightly different angles reflect separate pieces of the surrounding garden. Orange leaves, dark hedges and pale cloudy sky break into tall changing fragments. A small part of the bird appears in the nearest lower panel.

Drops and fine spots remain on the reflective surfaces after the rain. Wet gravel and scattered leaves fill the foreground, with shallow puddles catching muted light. The peacock train introduces delicate natural pattern beside the large geometric panels. The low viewpoint keeps both textures visible while allowing the fans to tower over the quiet movement below.
