A porcupine sniffs beside the fallen log
Published · Updated
A porcupine sniffs beside the fallen log at the edge of a damp woodland clearing. Its rounded dark face approaches the cracked bark, while long quills sweep backward above its broad body. Pale tips catch the first light, separating their fine outlines from the darker ferns behind.
Stout feet rest among wet leaves and scattered acorns beneath the coat. Moss follows the broken ridges of the log, adding small green details beside the whiskered muzzle. The low viewpoint keeps the animal close to its surroundings, with tall trunks and a warm shaft of dawn light extending upward through the quieter background.
