A shaggy dog chooses the yellow cup
Published · Updated
A shaggy dog has made its choice. One front paw rests on the yellow cup while the woman beside it smiles down at the little game. Two other cups remain untouched on the rug, their blue and green surfaces spaced clearly apart. The dog’s lowered nose and the woman’s relaxed hands keep the moment centered on this small decision.
The woman sits with her legs folded to one side, wearing an argyle sweater and a pale pleated skirt over dark tights. The knit pattern adds broad cream and tan diamonds to the many colors around her. Fine strands of the dog’s pale coat catch the same daylight that reaches her face and the bright enamel cups.
Tall windows and sloping glass fill the sunroom with light. Emerald seating, trailing plants and curved timber shelves create a generous setting behind the pair. Pink, mustard and teal shapes spread across the woven rug below. The room is full of texture and color, but its most engaging detail is the pause after the dog places a paw on its chosen cup.
