A stone pavilion hides beside the autumn pond
Published · Updated
A stone pavilion sits almost hidden beside a still garden pond. Rough walls, a conical shingle roof and a narrow red door give the small building a distinctive outline among the trees. A warm light at the window suggests a quiet refuge reached by the leaf-covered path along the bank.
The view begins across dark water, where floating leaves gather near a mossy fallen branch. Gold and orange canopies rise above the pavilion and repeat in the softer reflections below. A little evening mist separates the far shore from the foreground, bringing depth to the secret garden while preserving the texture of stone, bark and damp foliage.
