An egret opens its wings above the pond
Published · Updated
An egret opens its white wings above a quiet pond, bringing a bright shape into the dark water and foliage. The long bill, curved neck and layered flight feathers remain clear as the bird reaches toward the surface. Small ripples begin to break the reflection beneath its descending feet.
Orange maple leaves frame one side of the view, with copper reeds rising along the other. Farther back, a soft blue bank of woodland separates the pond from the morning mist. Low light catches the feathers without losing their texture, making the moment of movement stand out within the stillness and rich color of the autumn setting.
