Beargrass flowers brighten the mountain slope
Published · Updated
Beargrass flowers brighten a steep mountain slope above a blue lake. The nearest white head shows small open flowers below a cluster of pale unopened buds. Long green stems rise through narrow leaves and dry seedheads. More flower heads continue across the meadow at different heights, following the uneven ground toward the forest.
Gray rocks interrupt the green foreground and carry small patches of lichen. Beyond them, dark evergreen trees descend to the water. A wooded island sits within the lake, with another thin shore curving away on the right. The water holds a cool, even blue that separates the busy meadow from the distant mountain wall.
Warm sunrise enters from the left and catches the edges of the white flowers. The same light touches the upper trees while the lake basin remains mostly in shade. Snow lies in irregular hollows beneath a line of jagged peaks. Small peach clouds stretch across the pale sky above. The vertical view connects tiny flower details, rough meadow stones and a broad mountain landscape, giving each distance a clear place in the composition.
