The BMX bowl holds a rider and a long bicycle shadow within its wide sweep of mauve concrete. Both wheels follow the curved transitions as he leans into the turn, hands on the handlebars and feet on the pedals. The high viewpoint makes the shape of the whole skatepark as important as the action.

Golden edges separate the bowl from the surrounding paving, grass and trees. A rounded central hump rises behind the cyclist, and the repeated curves carry the eye toward distant hills and water. His pale blue shirt adds a small cool accent to the warm concrete. Scuffs, joints and the crisp shadow give the smooth surface a used, physical character.
