Carrom pieces glide across the garden room
Published · Updated
Carrom pieces spread across a cream playing board while two brothers settle into a quiet game. The younger boy positions a white striker with one fingertip, his eyes following the small disk. His older brother leans close enough to watch the shot and smiles toward the same patch of board. Their attention gives the room a relaxed sense of shared time.
The striped rugby shirt brings broad navy and white bands into the foreground. Across the table, a rust corduroy overshirt catches the sunlight along its ridges. The wooden board has a thick dark frame, round corner pockets and hanging nets. Pale and black pieces cast short shadows on the worn surface, while thin printed lines describe the playing area.
The garden room rises around them with tall flowering geraniums, pale window frames and round milk-glass lights. Teal geometric tiles continue below the windows and across the floor. Beyond the glass, a bay and distant suspension bridge sit in soft afternoon haze. The generous vertical frame connects the close game to the flowering branches overhead and the open city view behind them.
