Clearwing Moth Hovers beside Purple Summer Flowers

Published · Updated

A clearwing moth hovers beside a purple flower cluster, extending its slender proboscis toward one small bloom. Its compact furry body hangs clear of the plant while fine legs bend beneath the thorax. Two dark antennae rise above the head, adding another pair of delicate lines to the close view.

Light passes through the transparent wings and reveals their reddish edges and branching veins. The golden thorax changes to deeper burgundy across the banded abdomen, ending in a dark tuft. Beside it, tiny tubular flowers crowd along a curved stem. Their bright centers and soft hairs provide a useful sense of scale.

The garden continues into a green meadow, with other flower heads blurred into patches of purple and yellow. Farther back, a blue lake and wooded hills make the small feeding moment part of a wider summer landscape. The image combines fine insect detail with generous open depth, letting an easily overlooked visitor become the center of a calm and colorful outdoor scene.
