Folded coastal shades for cloud watching
Published · Updated
Folded coastal shades spread above a quiet terrace facing the sea. The nearest canvas fan fills the upper part of the view, with long stitched divisions leading toward its supported corners. Smaller fans repeat farther along the deck. Their changing angles frame a bright bank of clouds, allowing the sky to remain part of the architecture.
Curved timber loungers sit beneath the canopy, each turned toward the open water. The cloud-watching terrace follows the edge of the hillside behind a continuous metal railing. Grasses and low shrubs grow in substantial planters along its inner side. Visible masts, cables and fastenings make the light fabric forms feel firmly connected to the ground.
The wooden deck retains a few dark reflective patches that catch the daylight. Shadows from the shades and railing cross the boards in different directions. Beyond them, wooded headlands recede into a blue coastal bay. There are no people in the scene, leaving the empty seats and wide horizon to suggest a calm place for a long, unhurried pause.
