Confetti falls through the ribbon court
Published · Updated
The ribbon court holds a small joke after a celebration. A woman in a pale blue lemon-print dress points toward her companion as they laugh together. A few pieces of tissue confetti have caught in his dark hair. She keeps a small paper cone in her other hand, while more scraps drift between them and lie scattered across the stone paving.
Rows of peach, lavender, blue and golden ribbons cross high between the terracotta walls. Their uneven hanging ends create a soft ceiling above the long banquet tables. White tablecloths, small flower arrangements and wooden chairs line both sides of the central passage. Flowering vines surround the dark doorway at the far end, adding another layer behind the pair.
Afternoon sun warms the rough plaster and catches the fine folds of the linen shirt. Both people lean naturally into the same amused moment. The tables and overhead streamers remain prominent, so the picture holds the atmosphere of the whole gathering as well as its small personal detail. Color comes from the real decorations, clothes and fallen paper.
