Curled Crystals in Soft Window Light

Published · Updated

Three white crystals rest on a dark stone surface beside an old window. Their forms curl into a broad crescent, a loose S and a smaller hook, with thin translucent tips rising from rough mineral bases. Fine parallel fibres follow every bend, giving the surfaces a layered appearance. Tiny chips and uneven edges keep the shapes delicate and irregular.

Soft side light passes through the thinnest parts of the crystals. The rough bases remain more opaque, with pale granular growth and small darker inclusions. Each specimen casts a gentle shadow onto the slate, where cracks and subtle mineral markings provide a darker, flatter texture. Clear spaces between the forms make their different curves easy to compare.

The close composition shows the full outlines and the fine structure of the fibres. An unadorned window frame sits beyond them, while the rest of the room falls into quiet shadow. The photograph is free to use, including in commercial projects.
