Dock diving brings a bright lakeside cheer
Published · Updated
Dock diving turns a lakeside dog fetch into a shared burst of excitement. A black-and-white dog stretches forward beyond the end of the wooden dock, following one blue bumper over the water. Its tail rises behind the compact airborne body, while the front paws reach toward the landing ahead. A father and son stand together on the broad planks, both watching the same moment with open smiles. The father's extended hand still follows the throw, and the boy keeps his hands close as he leans slightly toward the action.
An autumn boathouse sits near the shore beneath copper leaves and taller green conifers. Its red roof and the pale canoe alongside it give the lake an everyday recreational setting. Across the water, a wooded hillside continues under a clear sky. Thick dock posts descend into the lake, with their reflections broken by small ripples. The foreground leaves plenty of open water below the dog, so the leap has room to travel. The photograph combines a simple family outing with the sharp timing of an animal caught between the platform and its next splash.
