A father and son bring their kite together at a low wooden workbench in a sunlit garden shed. The large paper kite spreads emerald, saffron and violet panels across its hexagonal frame. Their hands gather around the crossed bamboo spars as the boy works with the cord and his father steadies the center.

The child's navy whale pattern sweater and mustard trousers echo the strong colors on the table. A tail of little paper bows drops beside the bench and trails across the floor, with extra tissue and a spool of string nearby. The raised view keeps their smiling faces visible while showing how the broad paper shape, narrow sticks and small knot fit together.
