Floral sleeves brighten the balcony as a vegetable basket rises through the courtyard. Large pink and yellow flowers cover the woman's orange satin dress, with full gathered sleeves and a fitted waist giving the garment a lively shape. Her hands grip the green rope beneath a small metal pulley, and her smile follows the basket downward.

Below, an older neighbor looks up from the stone paving in a blue cardigan and cream dress. Carrots and long green leeks protrude from the wicker basket between them. Apricot walls, potted plants and the diagonal white railing create a strong sense of height while keeping this small exchange warm and personal.
