Four in a row beneath the palm dome
Published · Updated
Four in a row becomes an evening challenge beneath the palm dome. The girl holds a yellow disc above the tall game frame and smiles toward the boy waiting opposite her. He keeps a coral disc in both hands while watching the board. Their warm expressions and ordinary summer layers make the game feel informal within the much grander surroundings.
The freestanding teal frame has broad feet, visible wood grain and a grid of circular openings. Yellow and coral wooden discs fill some spaces, leaving the dark gaps easy to distinguish. A low wooden box holds spare pieces near the foreground. The stone paving beneath their shoes continues toward the edge of a still reflecting pool.
Tall palms rise behind the children into the curved iron and glass roof. Blue evening sky fills the dome, while lanterns and low garden lights bring amber accents to the leaves. Small reflections tremble on the water. The picture keeps the board, the children and the full height of the conservatory connected in a generous vertical view.
