Foxglove bells brighten the stone garden path
Published · Updated
Foxglove bells rise beside a wet stone path in a deeply green garden. The nearest stem carries large purple-pink flowers with pale rims and spotted throats. Tightly closed green buds continue above them, giving the tall plant a changing silhouette from base to tip. Raindrops cling to the curved petals and broad lower leaves.
More flower spires fill the border behind the foreground plant. Some are white and cream, while others repeat the stronger purple color farther along the path. Ferns and low foliage spread between the stems. An old apple tree arches overhead, its mossy branches carrying green fruit and making a living canopy above the garden.
The stone path bends toward a weathered timber gate set beside a low wall. Shallow puddles reflect the bright sky between dark joints and scattered fallen petals. Rough stones, soft moss and damp wood add several different textures to the narrow passage. Beyond the gate, distant trees fade into a pale mist. The vertical view follows both the height of the flowers and the gentle route through the garden.
